Airbus A380 ‘super jumbo’ lands in Glasgow

THE world’s largest passenger aircraft has landed in Scotland for the first time to mark the 10th anniversary of flights between Dubai and Glasgow.

The Airbus A380 ‘super jumbo’ operated by Emirates landed at Glasgow Airport today.

Thousands of aviation fans looked on as the huge airliner arrived.

It measures 24m in height and has a wing span of almost 80m. It can carry more than 500 passengers in its current configuration.

Emirates has carried more than 2.4 million passengers between Glasgow and Dubai since 2004.

Boeing 777 aircraft are usually used on the twice daily route.

Amanda McMillan, Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, said: “This is a significant milestone for Glasgow and for Scottish aviation.”
