Aberdeenshire Christmas Eve crash victim dies

A FEMALE pensioner, critically injured in a two vehicle crash in Aberdeenshire on Christmas Eve, has died in hospital.

She was named today as Catherine Cordiner, 65, from the Lossiemouth area of Moray. Ms Cordiner had to be cut free from the wreckage of her silver BMW 3 series car by firefighters and airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by an RAF Search and Rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth, following the crash on the A96 Huntly to Glens of Foudland road, near Bains Hole, just after noon on Christmas Eve.

The 58-year-old male driver of the other car, a black Audi A3, was taken to hospital with a broken collar bone and minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland today confirmed that Ms Cordiner had died in Aberdeen Royal infirmary on Boxing Day.

Inspector Ewan Innes said: “We would like to renew our appeal for witnesses to this collision. There would have been numerous cars in the area at the time that may have seen something and I would appeal to those drivers to come forward. We would be keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who may have information.”
