Aberdeen biker in hospital after van crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has died after his bike was involved in a crash with a Transit van in north Aberdeen this morning.

The 20 year-old biker, who has still to be named, was rushed by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the crash on Balgownie Road shortly before 6am.

The road was closed between Braehead Way and Bodachara Road following the crash to allow crash scene investigators to examine the scene.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said today: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 20 year-old man has died following a serious road traffic collision which occurred on Balgownie Road, Aberdeen. The collision, which involved a motorbike and a Ford Transit van occurred at approximately 5.55am today .

“Balgownie Road, which was previously closed between Braehead Way and Bodachara Road, has now re-opened. Anybody who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
