A1 closure: two drivers taken to Edinburgh hospital following accident on main Scottish road

Two drivers have been taken to hospital following a road traffic accident on a busy main road.

The crash happened on the A1, two miles north of Grantshouse, this morning at about 3.15am.

It involved a car and a van and both drivers have been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for their injuries.

A section of the road was closed for about five hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said: “We received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a van at 3.15am. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.”
