Trainer of thousands celebrates its 30th anniversary
Training for Care, based in Logie Green Road, began as Canonmills Community Care in 1982, offering an introduction to care work and giving young people who did not want to follow more academic routes the skills to find jobs.
It changed its name in 1995 and became a leading specialist in vocational training in adult and child care, working with more than 250 organisations in the voluntary, private and statutory sectors.

Yvonne Edmond, chair of the directors, said: “Training for Care fills an almost unique niche in care training: opening doors for less advantaged young people, and devoting the time required for the support so necessary for the many employees who have been out of the education system for a long time, building their confidence, skills and knowledge.”
