Tragedy as boy, 6, is run over by mother's car in Glasgow

A SIX-year-old boy died after he was apparently run over by his mother, it emerged today.

It is believed Edan Cakmak fell out of the car and she accidentally reversed over him.

He was taken to hospital after the accident in St Mark Street, Shettleston, Glasgow, but died a short while later.

The child was a pupil at Wellshot Primary School.

Headteacher Jennifer McCluskey said: "The school is devastated by this tragic news and our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

"Support is being offered to staff and children at the school."

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "About 9am on Tuesday November 16 a six-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in St Mark Street in the Shettleston area of Glasgow.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary, but died a short time later.

"Police inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
