Criticism over crossing steel

THE Scottish Government has been criticised after Forth Crossing bridge constructors confirmed they would source the steel for the new bridge from China and the EU.

Scottish Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment, Richard Baker MSP, said: “The SNP government tells us the size of the contract was an impediment for any Scottish firm bidding. That raises serious questions over whether the procurement process makes it harder for firms based or with significant operations in Scotland to win contracts.”
