Traders line up sweet treat

TRADERS in the West End will be giving away thousands of free Easter eggs this Saturday as part of an ongoing campaign to attract shoppers.

Around 20 retailers will be stocking chocolate eggs for children, with participating businesses displaying posters in their windows.

On Sunday there is also an Easter Bunny treasure hunt starting from the One World Shop at Saint John’s Church. The measures are part of the Edinburgh Trams’ £175,000 Open for Business fund.

Michael Apter, chairman of the West End Traders’ Association and director of Paper Tiger on Stafford Street, said: “The whole point is to bring people into the area. There’s definitely more tourist traffic in the area in recent weeks and things like this help to draw in footfall.”
