Tractor driver found guilty of drink-driving

A FARMER had his tractor confiscated after he was caught driving it home from the pub while he was three times over the alcohol limit.

James Reid, 50, was driving several miles back to his farm from a bar when police were alerted that he was well over the limit and on a tractor.

Reid had got off the machine by the time the police arrived, but as they watched he climbed back on board and set off for a second time.

The farmer admitted drink-driving in Dunkeld, Perthshire, on 23 September last year while he was three times over the limit.

At Perth Sheriff Court yesterday, he also admitted having no driving licence and having no insurance for the tractor, which was then confiscated by the police.
