Town centre gets facelift

WORK to make environmental improvements to Penicuik town centre has begun.

The six-week programme by Midlothian Council is scheduled to finish mid-April.

The council has stressed that efforts will be made to ensure as little disruption as possible to local businesses.

Councillor Wilma Chalmers, Midlothian’s commercial operations spokeswoman, said the work would improve the town centre and she hoped there would be minimum disruption.

She added: “We’re delighted work has begun on what is phase two of the Penicuik precinct refurbishment.”
