Tourism drive gets moving

A BLAST from the famous One o'Clock Gun on Edinburgh Castle's ramparts this Ne'erday will kick-start a fun run down the Royal Mile to Holyrood and the launch of tourism-boosting events under the umbrella of Active Scotland.

The Scottish Government is to spend 250,000 promoting the country to thrill-seekers as an action and adventure holiday destination

Visit Scotland will launch a 150,000 Active Scotland Growth Fund to support organisations and businesses across the adventure travel industry.

Tourism Minister Jim Mather said: "From gentle coastal walks to long-distance treks through challenging terrain, open canoeing on a tranquil loch to the thrill of whitewater rafting down a fast flowing river, Active Scotland has something to offer all ages and abilities."
