Torture trial victim admits lying in court

A TORTURE victim was not beaten with a hammer and stabbed with a screwdriver by his own accomplices during a bid to extort £20,000 from a drug dealer, a court heard.

Mark Morris admitted lying on oath during an abduction and torture trial at the High Court in Perth but denied that he was trying to protect people he was “terrified” of.

Morris told the court that he had travelled to Scotland from Manchester with an associate, Kevin Horton, to meet his drug dealer Dean Buchanan.

Buchanan, 33, Whitelaw Drive, Bathgate, and Fraser Winton, 37, Whitburn Road, Bathgate, deny all the charges against them, including attacking Morris to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and to the danger of his life.

The trial continues.
