Tories picked for ward poll

TWO new Tory hopefuls have been chosen to stand at next year’s city council elections in a ward where the previous candidate quit.

Ben Jeffreys, an adviser to UK education secretary Michael Gove, stood down as candidate for Pentland Hills just months after his selection, saying he did not have enough time for the job.

Now former health worker and Tory researcher Dominic Heslop and business consultant Sheila Low have been selected to stand in the three-member ward where veteran Tory councillor Alastair Paisley is retiring at the elections next May.
