Top industry award for Capital carer

AN EDINBURGH woman has been recognised as one of the top carers in Scotland at a prestigious awards ceremony celebrating the cream of the care industry.

Gail Syratt, who has been a care manager at Bluebird Care in Edinburgh for a year, was selected from more than 300 entries to win the Care Manager of the Year award at the Scottish Care – Care At Home and Housing Support Awards 2010.

She said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have won this Scottish Care Award for 2010.

"The awards ceremony was a great night and has really made me feel appreciated.

"It's rewarding and reassuring to know that I'm providing a service which really matters. This is a true reflection of the dedication of our carers."

Chief executive of Scottish Care, Ranald Mair, said: "We have many fantastic, compassionate individuals that dedicate their lives to the wellbeing of others, and for that they should all be applauded."
