A FORMER Lothian and Borders Police officer, who has spent two years at Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland, has returned to the force.

Bill Skelly has been made assistant chief constable territorial policing, replacing Mike McCormick who will become deputy chief constable of Dumfries and Galloway.
ACC Skelly said: "It's a fabulous opportunity to work with a great team. I look forward to helping make our communities safer."
