Timely plea for donors

VOLUNTEERS are needed to give blood as the Capital continues to battle against the wintry weather.

Dr Ian Mckee MSP, a former Edinburgh GP, said: "We need people to keep giving blood during these extreme weather conditions and in the lead up to Christmas - a time when blood supply is traditionally low.

"Last winter three blood groups reached less than the optimum level of 6 days' supply. We must try our best to avoid that this year."
