Thugs locked up for violent attack on boy

TWO teenagers smashed a boy's face in a vicious, unprovoked attack, a court has heard.

Thomas Aikman and Frank Jamieson each punched their victim just once on the head, but the single blows shattered Daniel Igoe's jaw and broke other bones in his face.

He spent four days having his jaw wired and metal plates inserted into his cheekbones.

Graham Fraser, prosecuting, said the two accused assaulted their victim at 1.20pm.

Aikman and Jamieson, both 16 from Livingston, appeared for sentence yesterday.

They earlier pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Igoe on July 13 last year by punching him on the head to his severe injury.

Sheriff Donald Muirhead sentenced both accused to eight months in a young offenders' institution.

Alan Jackson, defending, said Aikman had later admitted that his victim had done nothing to deserve what he did to him.

Darryl Lovie, for Jamieson, stressed that the attack had not been premeditated.
