Thugs attack man on crutches

A gang of thugs attacked a man on crutches just to steal his bag of groceries.

The incident happened between 4.14pm and 4.45pm on Tuesday at Hercus Loan, Musselburgh, when a 56 year old man was approached by three men who proceeded to assault him.

The three men then made off in the direction of Carlyle Place with his groceries.

The first suspect is described as white, 6 ft 3in tall, early 20’s, with dark hair, a bushy unkempt beard and bad teeth.

The second suspect is white and 5ft 4in tall, and the third suspect is white, 6ft 5in tall, muscular build, late teens, with a fresh youthful face.

The victim received minor injuries and officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

PC Richard Edwards said: “The man who was assaulted and robbed walks with the aid of crutches, so this was a particularly vicious, unprovoked assault. Anyone who was in the area of Hercus Loan, Musselburgh between 4pm and 5pm is urged to contact police immediately.
