Three in court after £160,000 haul

Three men have been arrested, and drugs worth £160,000 seized after two cars were stopped on a motorway, police have said.

Officers from the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA), working with Tayside and Merseyside police forces, stopped the vehicles on the M74 in Lanarkshire on Sunday.

Four kilogrammes of cocaine with an estimated street value of £160,000 were recovered from the cars. Three men aged 48, 43 and 42 were arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

SCDEA said the men were arrested for offences in relation to the supply of controlled drugs. The 42- and 43-year-old men are due to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court today, while the 48-year-old will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
