Thousands enjoy Mela on the Links

THOUSANDS of festival-goers descended on Leith Links over the weekend for the city’s biggest multi-cultural bonanza the Edinburgh Mela.

Founded in 1995, the event has grown exponetially since it was launched relocating from Meadowbank Stadium to Ocean Terminal, then Pilrig Park and finally to Leith Links, where 30,000 people were expected to attend over the three-day festival.

A bumper programme of entertainment had been devised for the17th year, ranging from Japanese drummers and breakdancers to classic bhangra and pyrotechnic theatre.
