Thorburn in charity frame

SNOOKER star Cliff Thorburn is to auction off the right to play a frame against him to raise funds for the charity Trefoil.

The auction will take place at a golf day being staged by the children’s charity on Tuesday at Edinburgh Royal Burgess Golf Club.

The snooker player said: “I have many friends in Edinburgh and one of them told me about the work Trefoil do, so I was happy to help them in any way I could.”

Trefoil’s David McArthur said: “Having the support of high-profile people like Cliff helps Trefoil raise its profile.”
