Thief snatches handbag from 87-year-old

POLICE are on the hunt for a thief who snatched a handbag from an 87-year old woman.

The incident happened shortly after 6pm on Saturday, in Boswall Parkway near Crewe Toll.

The woman had left a Number 19 bus and was walking alone, when a male ran past her and grabbed her bag before making off.

The suspect is described only as being white with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.

The victim was otherwise unharmed and contacted police, who are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come
forward.

A police spokesman said: “This incident happened very quickly and took the victim by surprise. Fortunately, she was uninjured, and we are now conducting local inquiries to identify the male responsible.

“Anyone who was in the area that evening and remembers seeing anything suspicious, or who has information that can assist with our investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
