Thief guilty of assaults

A THIEF has been convicted of carrying out two assaults and robberies in Edinburgh within three hours.

Salvatore Sivero, 29, was found guilty yesterday of assaulting an employee at Shell Service Station on Glasgow Road on July 19, and a more serious charge of assaulting Mohammed Aslam at his shop, demanding money, holding a knife against his throat, striking him and robbing him.

Lord Stewart deferred sentence until February 29.
