There's snow moving grit

COUNCIL chiefs have been asked to remove grit on Edinburgh's roads and pavements - after coming under fire for not putting it down quickly enough.

In the city council's latest update on its winter weather response, it reveals that the requests have been denied as temperatures are set to fall again over the weekend.

They also say that while the thaw has removed most of the ice and snow from pavements and roads across the city, it is still a problem in some of the higher and more remote areas in the south, south west and west.

Meanwhile, the battle to clear the backlog of bin collections is ongoing. Temporary skips across the city are going to remain in place and neighbourhood teams are going to increase effort on street cleaning and removing litter.
