Tesco worker raises £1300 by shaving head

A SUPERMARKET worker stopped shoppers in their tracks when she had her head shaved for charity in the middle of the store.

Trish Hannan, 49, held up the aisles as she had her long locks chopped off to raise cash for Diabetes UK. Trish’s hair has been sent to the Western General where it will be used for wigs for cancer sufferers.

Ms Hannan, who works on the checkouts at Tesco in Haddington, East Lothian, has raised more than £1300 for her chosen charity, which she admits is close to her heart.

She said: “I decided to donate to Diabetes UK as my mother has had the disease for around 15 years. They do such good work.

“I have to thank all the customers and staff at the supermarket as they helped raise so much money for me.

“The customers were all laughing while I had it done.”

Colleague Judi Keyte added: “Everyone from the store would like to say a huge thank you to Trish and a massive thank you to everyone who came into the store to support her and to donate.”
