Teenager hurt after attack in shop car park

A TEENAGER has been seriously assaulted by two men in a supermarket car park after arguing with his girlfriend.

The incident happened at about 12:30am on Sunday, 28 March in the Lidl car park in Musselburgh.

The 19-year-old man had been out with his girlfriend when the pair began to argue. Two males then intervened and punched the man in the head, causing him to fall to the ground where they began kicking him.

The males then fled the scene and were lost to sight at the Musselburgh Rugby Club.

Police are now appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw anything to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "The young man has received painful injuries to his face as a result of this attack and we are eager to trace those responsible.

"Anyone who was in or around the Lidl on Newhailes Road around the time of the incident and witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

"We do not have a description of the suspects and so anyone who can assist us or has information relevant to our enquiries is also asked to come forward."
