Teenager fractured man’s skull

A MAN who had been thrown out of a nightclub punched a stranger with such force that the man collapsed unconscious in a street, a court has heard.

Daniel O’Rourke, 17, had been ejected from the Sin nightclub in Edinburgh’s Cowgate when he assaulted Liam Harrison, 23, who was standing outside.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard yesterday that bouncers saw Mr Harrison’s body fall on to the pavement. And they also saw his head bouncing off the concrete.

Onlookers then saw blood come out of Mr Harrison’s ears. He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Doctors found he was suffering from a fractured skull, but they decided he did not need surgery.

O’Rourke, of Prestonpans, East Lothian, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Harrison to his severe injury.

Sheriff Derrick McIntyre deferred sentence until 26 January for the court to obtain reports.
