Teenager charged with murder bid

A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was injured during a shooting at a house.

Police said a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident in Carluke, Lanarkshire, at 12:40am on Sunday. He was in a stable condition yesterday.

Murray Gracie, 18, from Carluke, appeared in private at Lanark Sheriff Court yesterday. He made no plea or declaration when he was charged with attempted murder and the culpable and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Gracie was also charged under the Firearms Act 1968 for allegedly possessing a firearm with no certificate and for the alleged possession of a prohibited weapon.

He also faces two charges of assault, as well as an allegation of dangerous driving.

The teenager was remanded in custody and the case was continued for further examination until his next appearance, which is expected to be next week.
