Teenage girl order to pay stab victim compensation

A teenage girl who stabbed a man at a party has been ordered to pay him £400 compensation.

Aimee Hunter, 16, plunged a knife into William Hardie’s stomach during an argument in the kitchen.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Hunter had met Hardie a few minutes earlier when he arrived at the house party in Armadale, West Lothian.

He had been out drinking with friends for five hours before reaching the party at around 9pm.

Other party goers heard the pair arguing in the living room then saw Hunter stand up and walk into the kitchen.

Mr Hardie followed her and continued to argue with her at which point she picked up a knife and stabbed him.

She then went back to the living room and told stunned guests: “I’ve just hurt him”.

Kate Hart, prosecuting, said Mr Hardie had gone home without seeking medical attention.

But at 2.30am his father found him in the bathroom of his home treating his wound.

He took Mr Hardie to St John’s Hospital in Livingston where the 2cm stab wound was cleaned.

Hunter, of Bathgate, West Lothian, appeared for sentence today.
