Teen crashed car after row with partner

A TEENAGE driver crashed his mum’s car after having a row with his girlfriend.

Sean Diamond, 19, drove off in a bid to calm down despite an earlier drinking session.

He was spotted driving with no lights on in the early hours of the morning by police in Livingston, West Lothian.

When they pulled alongside him he drove off at speed, a court heard. As he tried to negotiate a roundabout, he mounted the kerb and hit a lamppost.

Police gave him a breath test, which he failed.

At Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday, Diamond, of Polbeth, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to driving with no licence or insurance and careless driving.

He also admitted driving with a breath alcohol count of 48mg – the legal limit is 35mg.

Diamond was banned from driving for 16 months and put under supervision for a year.
