The 33-year-old nurse was knocked down by a car in Edinburgh’s Kingston Avenue on the evening of May 12 as she made her way home to Ravenswood Avenue, the Inch, after a shift at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Dylan Jenkin, 18, is charged with causing the death of Ms Pirrie by dangerous driving, failing to stop when signalled to do so by police and other road traffic offences.

He made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Gail Patrick at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
