Teachers in strike threat

SCOTLAND’S teachers have threatened strike action over a report which seeks to change their working arrangements.

Delegates at the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers’ annual conference described the McCormac report as an “unwanted assault on pay and conditions”, it was reported today.

Chris Keates, the union’s general secretary, said the report – which recommends changes to make arrangements in schools more flexible – is “stripping teachers of their professionalism and is a blueprint for increasing already excessive workload”.
