Tea parties for elderly make Fraser flavour of the month

SUPERJAM entrepreneur Fraser Doherty has been presented with a Bighearted Scotland award for running dozens of tea parties for elderly people.

The 20-year-old, from Davidson's Mains, was named Young Business Person of the Year at the ceremony. Other nominees included lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone and "curry king" Charan Gill.

Doherty has run more than 120 SuperJam Tea Parties in the past year, after setting up his own charity to reach out to lonely older people. He and his friends recently hosted a "knit-a-thon".

He said: " I am massively grateful to all of the hundreds of people who have volunteered to help out – without all of their support, we couldn't have done it."
