Taxi driver assaulted in ‘frightening’ attack in Glasgow

A TAXI driver was subjected to a “frightening” attack by two of his customers, police said.

He was left with injuries to his face after being attacked with a sharp object by two teenagers in the East End of Glasgow, who also robbed their victim.

The 45 year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and later released.

Strathclyde police are looking for witnesses to the attack, which happened at around 4am this morning.

The driver was dropping the two men, aged around 18, at a property in Lochend Road, Easterhouse when they attacked him.

The men were wearing light coloured trousers, with the first dressed in a dark hoody and the second in a light blue polo shirt.

The had been picked up from a footpath outside property in Greenfield Road, Sprinboig.

Detective Sergeant John Semple said: “This was a very frightening attack on this man in the early hours of the morning. I would like to appeal to anyone who may know the men who carried out this horrific attack or indeed anyone who saw two men fitting the description of the suspects in the vicinity of Lochend Road”.
