Talk of the town: Take leaf of mother in law jokes please

FIRST came the leafman, then came the leafwoman, followed by a child and a baby.

But now the foliage family of Stockbridge has seen a addition to the family - a perfect leafy pooch.

The dog, believed to have appeared a few days ago, may have been created as an early Christmas gift for the leafy toddler.

Although leafman is no doubt delighted his creator decided to add a puppy to the family, he must surely now be worried about the possible appearance of a leafy mother-in-law...

Coincidentally, 'booze' rhymes with 'lose'

AFTER the SNP's plans for a minimum alcohol price were torpedoed in the Scottish Parliament, the party locally appears to have decided to take a "if you can't beat them..." approach.

A flyer for the city council's SNP group Christmas party makes no mention of a 45p minimum price when it states "alcohol contributions welcome".

Worryingly there is only a "light buffet" on offer.

Talk of the Town trusts there will be no binge drinking.

Growth for 2011 ...

IT'S something men across the Capital, including those in this office, are doing, and now the Prime Minister is being invited to get in on the act.

During Prime Minister's Questions at Westminster yesterday, City MP Mike Crockart urged David Cameron to follow his lead and grow a moustache for charity.

Mr Crockart, the Lib Dem MP for Edinburgh West, called on Mr Cameron to congratulate all those taking part in "Movember" which aims to raise awareness of, and money to fight, prostate cancer.

The Prime Minister hailed those taking part but stopped short of pledging to take part next year.

Sporting his own Movember moustache, Mr Crockart said: "Given how good we look, would you consider joining us next year?"

EDINBURGH Airport's new 1 drop-off charge has found itself coming under fire from an unusual source - Andy Murray's mum.

Judy Murray complained on her Twitter feed: "Watching Rip Off Britain … What about the 1 drop-off charge at Edinburgh Airport? Disgrace."

Her comments were backed by Tory MSP Gavin Brown, who has already gathered 6,000 signatures for his petition to get the airport's owner, BAA, to scrap the charge.

He said: "Judy Murray is absolutely right - the drop-off charge is a disgrace."
