Yes, it has been an interesting life for the Royal Yacht Britannia, which yesterday marked 60 years since her launch from John Brown’s shipyard on the Clyde.

Fireworks and plenty of blue and white flags were out for the celebrations while rolling back the years for hundreds of visitors who were encouraged to join the party on the big day.

Sir Chris Hoy, for example, is a legend who has won Sports Personality of the Year, has more gold medals than any other Brit and is about to unleash his own brand of bike on the world.

So it’s a bit of a surprise that people are still mistaking him for Chris Foy, an English referee of questionable aptitude who has a habit of annoying supporters.

Sir Chris was targeted by Tottenham fans upset at Foy, above, last year, and again found himself a target following the ref’s performance in the weekend’s Chelsea v Man City FA Cup tie, but laughed it off, tweeting: “I guess Chris Foy’s having a shocker again today!”
