Swimmers to take plunge in icy Forth

A CHARITY swim across the Firth of Forth is being held in tribute to city businesswoman Jeni Ayris, inset, who was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan.

Ms Ayris, who was originally from South Africa, was killed when a mini-bus carrying foreign workers was targeted last month. Now a group of five South African swimmers – including Lucas Yeats, Daros Gray and David Macleod, pictured – will brave the freezing coastal waters in a crossing dedicated to their compatriot.

All funds will be donated to Erskine – Scotland’s leading care organisation for ex-servicemen and women.
