Suzanne Pilley trial: Accused’s wife declines to give evidence

THE wife of the man accused of killing Suzanne Pilley has declined to give evidence for the prosecution at his trial. Andrea Gilroy was called as a witness today.

Her husband, David Gilroy, is on trial the High Court in Edinburgh.

Gilroy, 49, denies murdering 38-year-old Suzanne Pilley on 4 May 2010 in Edinburgh, or elsewhere, hiding her body and driving away with it in the boot of a car.

He further pleads not guilty to trying to cover up her alleged killing.

When Mrs Gilroy appeared in the witness box today, Advocate Depute Alex Prentice QC told her: “You are being cited here as a witness by the prosecution.

“You may, if you wish, give evidence or, as the wife of the accused, you have the right to decline to give evidence. Do you wish to give evidence?”

She replied: “No.”

Mrs Gilroy was then told she was free to go.
