Suzanne Pilley murder trial: timeline of how mystery unravelled into murder

THE Pilley family has faced a long and harrowing fight for justice.

4 May, 2010: Office worker Suzanne Pilley, 38, does not turn up for work at Infrastructure Management in Thistle Street, Edinburgh, and is reported missing by her parents.

11 May: Police say she may have been the victim of a “criminal act”.

18 May: Her employers release a statement saying her disappearance is “completely out of character”.

19 May: Police begin treating Miss Pilley’s disappearance as a murder investigation.

20 May: Police search a 400 square mile area of Argyll for her body, but without success.

1 June: Police focus their search on the Glen Croe Forest, near the Rest and Be Thankful on the A83 in Argyll.

23 June: Police charge Miss Pilley’s former lover, David Gilroy.

9 November, 2011: Gilroy appears at the High Court in Glasgow. He denies killing Ms Pilley.

20 February, 2012: The trial begins in Edinburgh.

15 March: Majority guilty verdict. Gilroy will be sentenced on 18 April.
