Survey warns of decline of road markings in Scotland

THE quality of road markings is in rapid decline, particularly in Scotland, it was revealed today.

As many as 40 per cent of markings on Scotland’s motorways and dual-carriageway roads need immediate replacement. a survey by the Road Safety markings Association found.

In Scotland the worst motorway was a north-bound section of the M90 between Dunfermline and Perth, while there were poor markings on the A92 Dunfermline to Kirkcaldy, and on the A8 and A720 near Edinburgh.

Looking at more than 4500 miles of white lines across major routes in Britain, the survey found that 38 per cent of English motorways and 36 per cent of Highways dual carriageways were in need of immediate or scheduled repairs. The Scottish Government looks after motorways and major roads.
