Supply deal in the pipeline for city firm

WATER firm Business Stream has won a £45 million contract to supply water to all of Scotland's universities, colleges and central government organisations.

The non-domestic water supplier, which is based at The Gyle, was awarded the three-year contract from the Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges after a competitive tendering process.

The contract includes 69 educational institutions and 56 government organisations. As well as the Capital's universities, it covers National Galleries of Scotland, National Museums of Scotland and the Royal Botanic Garden.

Chief executive Mark Powles said: "This is a great win for us and we're delighted to have been appointed by APUC following a competitive procurement process. Our market offering is very strong and we were able to show that during this tender.

"We're looking forward to helping Scottish universities, colleges and public bodies achieve significant water, cost and environmental efficiencies over the next three years."

Last month Mr Powles was named best public sector director at the Director of the Year awards.
