Summit set to focus on public sector

Leaders representing a range of sectors within Edinburgh were set to gather today to discuss council cuts.

The City Chambers was to play host to a “city conference” that will consider action that can be taken in the face of dramatic spending pressures on the public purse.

Key figures from the public, voluntary and private sectors were to take part in the discussion, organised by the city council, including Tom Halpin, chief executive of community justice organisation Sacro, Brian Lister, principal and chief executive of Stevenson College, and Alex Clark, the city’s acting chief fire officer.
