SuBo lands up at airport to kick-start Christmas fundraising

Singing sensation Susan Boyle was set to help get Christmas off to a flying start today, when she is the guest of British Airways at a festive fun day at Edinburgh Airport.

British Airways staff and their colleagues at ground handling agent Servisair are putting on two days of Christmas fundraising events in support of the airline’s Flying Start campaign for Comic Relief.

The terminal will resound with carols performed by the choir from Fox Covert Primary School, in Corstorphine, and another very special seasonal guest – Santa – will be making a flying visit to meet and greet the children in his grotto.

Passengers on board British Airways flights to Edinburgh from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City will be advised by an in-flight announcement that the scene that greets them on arrival might not be quite what they expect.

The two days of Christmas fun – today and Friday – will include a host of events for airport staff and passengers to take part in.

Moyna Miller, British Airways airport delivery manager, who has co-ordinated the event, said: “We’re confident we’ll have two days of fantastic fun-filled festive fare that will put a smile on the faces of everyone.”

“The most important thing is that we raise as much money as possible for Flying Start to help Comic Relief continue the great work they do in making a lasting difference to some of the most vulnerable people.”
