‘Stupid’ drunk gets jail term

A THUG who broke a man’s wrist in an unprovoked street attack has been branded “a
stupid, violent drunk”.

Liam Collins was released from prison just two weeks before he viciously assaulted his victim with a metal bucket.

He was also on bail for another offence at the time, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.

Collins, 22, had spent the day drinking in pubs before he accidentally bumped into
Steven Johnstone in West Calder Main Street, West Lothian, at around 6.45pm.

After trying to goad him into a fight, Collins swung a metal bucket at Mr Johnstone’s head, hitting his wrist as he tried to protect himself.

Collins, from Blackburn, was jailed for ten months when he appeared for sentence yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to assault and breach of the peace.
