Student’s whisky bottle wins design ‘Oscar’

AN EDINBURGH Napier student has scooped the design world equivalent of an Oscar after designing a whisky especially for women.

Melissa Preston’s cheeky product has been internationally acclaimed after winning a Yellow Pencil at the prestigious D&AD student awards.

Shaped like a wine bottle and wrapped in singles adverts, her design plays on whisky tasting notes and presents the bottle as a male character seeking a female.

The 22-year-old is now preparing for a four-month placement at a top design studio in London – part of her prize for winning the Yellow Pencil.
