Students told: get TV licence

STUDENTS in the Lothians are warned they risk being fined up to £1000 for watching live television online without a licence.

The number of students who watch TV on the internet has increased since last year, but 28 per cent of them do not realise they need a licence for that.

A licensing spokesman said: “If they are watching TV catch-up, a licence is not needed. If they are watching or recording programmes as they are shown on TV, they must have a valid licence.”
