Students’ talents blossom

A WICKER horn sculpture festooned with Scottish hanging fruits is expected to wow visitors at the Gardening Scotland show hosted at Ingliston this June.

The three-metre exhibit and garden design was submitted to the competition by eight second-year students at Scottish Agricultural College having sourced the wicker horn from Galloway.

The garden design was created by Finnish student Anne Nurmiranta who drew on her memories of the Scandinavian countryside.

She said: “We want to promote the use of soft fruit in garden design and draw attention to their beneficial qualities.”

Gardening Scotland, the national outdoor living and gardening show, will be held at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, from June 1 to 3.
