Students protest over cuts

STUDENTS from Edinburgh University will be joining a mass demonstration in London next week to protest against education cuts.

Around 250 students from the university will be supporting the National Union of Students (NUS) and University and College Union (UCU).

Edinburgh University Students Association has booked five coaches to bus marchers down to London.

More than 10,000 students and lecturers are expected to attend in total.

EUSA president Liz Rawlings said: "Drastic cuts to teaching budgets threaten the future of education as we know it.

"Proposals to triple tuition fees in England are not only disastrous for students in England but disastrous for universities in Scotland which will struggle to compete with their wealthier counterparts."
