Student wins design contest

A SRI Lankan student won an Edinburgh Napier University innovation competition by designing a solar-powered wheelchair.

Promila Jayarajh beat off stiff competition from more than 700 other students from India and Sri Lanka to win a Facebook competition.

Promila’s wheelchair won her a week in Scotland and the chance to pitch her product to a Dragons’ Den-style panel from Napier’s Institute for Product Design & Manufacturing.
