Student influx is predicted

EDINBURGH’S student population is set to soar in the coming years, according to a property consultant.

GVA believes an influx of foreign students, the introduction of tuition fees in England, and the high quality of Capital universities means Edinburgh could be “in desperate need of more student accommodation”.

Toby Withall of GVA said: “There is an appetite for more student bed space. Applicants from outside the EU are up by 18.3 per cent in Scotland for next year.”
